All Members meeting on March 21st, 12pm PT / 3pm ET.
In this meeting, we met the new executive director of the Open Education Consortium, Paul Stacey. Paul joins OEC after five years as Associate Director of Global Learning for Creative Commons where he helped creators, faculty, students, librarians and the public generate a global public commons of knowledge and culture. Paul has extensive experience leading Open Educational Resource initiatives in Canada, USA, the Middle East / North Africa and around the world. Prior to Creative Commons Paul helped found BCcampus in 2003 and led its open education initiative for nine years.
We also discussed OEC news and Preston Davis’s candidacy for OEC board member. And lastly, we discussed the CARE (Contribute, Attribute, Release, and Empower) Framework for OER Stewardship. The framework is described in a new paper entitled, “Toward a Sustainable OER Ecosystem: The Case for OER Stewardship.”
On December 13th, 2017, CCCOER held a New-Members mixer. New CCCOER members were asked to share their current OER projects and long-term plans and goals. After that, all CCCOER members were invited to join in a discussion of SPARC’s OER Mythbusting document which discusses the top seven OER myths in North American higher education.
